Merry Christms and Happy New Year!

Boaz Woodie

Boaz is now three years old.  Can you believe that? He is working really hard in his therapies. Last year he was using a walker to get around and this year he is learning to climb stairs! He is also working really hard on talking. He can say a handful of words and can understand many more.

Boaz can also say and sign the answers to the first three questions of the First Catechism!
1. Who made you?
God made me.
2. What else did God make?
God made all things
3. Why did God make you and all things?
For his glory.

We are very proud of him!

Emory Baxter

Emory is doing really well!  He is growing big and strong. He is really great with his brothers and loves to help take care of them. Emory knows most of the ABC's and can count to ten (with the exception of seven sometimes!).

He can also answer the first five questions of the First Catechism!
1. Who made you? God made me.
2. What else did God make? God made all things.
3. Why did God make you and all things? For His glory.
4. How can you glorify God? By loving and obeying Him.
5. Why are you to glorify God? Because He made me and takes care of me.

Greyson Elliot

Greyson Elliot Corbitt was born May 4, 2014.  He was born with Down syndrome and Bilateral Club Feet, though this was not a surprise to us. After he was born, he had fluid in his lungs so he was taken to the NICU. There he was diagnoised with Pulmonary Hypertension. He was put on oxygen to treat it. He spent a total of 33 days in the NICU. He was sent home with oxygen and continued to use oxygen for 2 months.

Once he was home, we started treating his Bilateral Club Feet. He had a short series of casts and then a small procedure to loosen his Achilles Tendon. He now wears a set of boots and bars while he sleeps at nighttime.

Grey is working hard in therapy. He is working really hard on stregthening his muscels and holding his head up.  He goes to physical therapy twice a week and occupational therapy twice a month (soon to be once a week). He will be starting speech therapy soon. He loves each of his therapists very much, as do we.

Meet Nate

Nate is our new cat!  He is awesome with the boys! We really couldn't ask for a better cat. He knows how to be gentle with Greyson and can be rough with the boys when they want to play!

Catechism is a classic form of teaching through question and answer.

We hope you had a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Love,
The Corbitts

Corbitt Catch Up

So, I know it has been a while since I blogged last.  Sorry for that. Life is CRAZY.

I know that is MIND BLOWING.

Anyways, all three boys are doing great (and mommy and daddy are too). Boaz is continuing therapies and has learned how to jump. It's his favorite thing to do. Ever. We ( really his doctor) have also made adjustments to his insulin pump that are actually working!  So that's awesome.

Emory continues to surprise me every day with how much he is learning and how much he can say!  He counts to ten, but he always skips seven!  I have no idea why. He and Boaz are obsessed with Teenage Ninja Mutant Turtles. They watch the old episodes that I used to watch when I was their age.

Grey is doing Occupational Therapy (OT) and Physical Therapy (PT). He is doing great in both and we can see a difference each week. He can hold his head up if he tries really hard and he is SO close to rolling over.  Even with his boots and bars on!  So that's the other thing- he is in boots and bars now! They are really cute and look super trendy (well except for the bar, you know).

I hope you enjoyed your dose of Corbitt Cuteness!

Greyson Elliot is 3 Months Old

Greyson has been doing great!  As you know, he is off of oxygen! At his last cardiologist check-up, his lung pressure was almost normal and the ASD was continuing to close!  We were cleared to have the oxygen picked up and are schedule for another check-up in THREE MONTHS!

He will be getting his last set of casts taken off next Tuesday!  This is great because they are starting to stink!  Baby feet are NOT supposed to stink.

He is also gaining weight now. At his last weight check he had gained 8 ounces.  We are very happy with his progress!

Greyson's Cardiologist Appointment Update

That's right. NO. MORE. TUBES. No more oxygen.  We are so relieved!  Not dragging around an oxygen tank makes life so much easier.

    See? Isn't that complicated?

Yesterday, Greyson saw his awesome cardiologist. I dragged all three kids there so the appointment was kind of complicated, but we survived. Greyson had another echo done.  It showed that his ASD (small hole in his heart) had shrunk a little bit since we were there two weeks ago and that his lung pressure had stayed the same. When he was in the hospital, his lung pressure was as high as his blood pressure which is WAY too high.  Because of his ASD, blood was leaking back into his body without passing through the lungs and getting oxygen. This was causing his heart to overwork and resulting in lung pressure.  The 'medicine' for hypertension at his age is oxygen. So they put him on oxygen to give his heart a break.  So he never needed oxygen to breath per se, but rather to help his heart.

Yesterday, the echo revealed that his lung pressure was 'on the higher end of normal'. Same as last week.  Since he had been put on oxygen to help the hypertension, his cardiologist concluded he no longer needed it since it was not making a difference.  We will be holding onto the tanks until our next appointment in two weeks to make sure that Josh and I do not feel he needs it again.  If he does, we will have the tanks available to use them.

The SECRET To Getting Rid of Baby Acne

If you've had a baby with baby acne then you understand how horrible it is. Nothing you do causes it and nothing you do gets rid of it.  People do not understand what it is and who wants their brand new baby's face covered in acne for his first impressions?!

All three of my boys have had it and I never had any success getting rid of it. UNTIL NOW!  Remember a couple weeks ago when I wrote about a few of the ways that we use apple cider vinegar?  Well, one of those ways was face wash. We discovered that apple cider vinegar is the best way to get rid of acne. It works overnight!  So it hit me the other day that I should try it on Greyson.  So I made some of the face wash (1 part ACV to 8 parts water) and used a cotton ball to gently apply it to his face and chest.  The next morning the baby acne was GONE.

So the secret to getting rid of baby acne is apple cider vinegar face wash! Let me know if it works for you!
